Art has long been a key feature of speculative fiction, whether it’s gorgeous maps in your epic fantasy book, illustrations of fantastical creatures, or book covers to drool over, we love it all. So this year, we are very excited to launch the BFS Art Competition. Running alongside the Short Story Competition, the Art Competition will be open for submissions from 1st April to 30th June. The lead judge will be our art editor, British Fantasy Award winning artist, Jenni Coutts.
Full guidelines and the form for entry will be posted before the opening date. As with the Short Story Competition, BFS members will receive one free entry, there will be a fee of £5 for additional entries and entries from non-members. All pieces must have some speculative element and all mediums are welcome. No work generated by AI will be accepted.
The prizes are:
1st Prize – £100, a year’s membership of the BFS, and publication in BFS Horizons or the Journal.
2nd Prize – £50, a year’s membership of the BFS, and publication in BFS Horizons or the Journal.
3rd Prize – £20, a year’s membership of the BFS, and publication in BFS Horizons or the Journal.
We can’t wait to see your entries!
