Making plans for the bank holiday weekend? Well, how about doing something different? Something new?

You could always meet a bunch of indie horror writers and hang out with them for the day – just come along to the Night Owl in Digbeth — it’s free!

On Saturday 24 August, Facebook group Indie Horror Chapter is holding its first ever event in Birmingham. Organised by Trish Wilson and her amazing team, and inspired by the big book conventions held by our American cousins, it promises to be a great day for horror fans, or for anyone who wants to dip their toes into the exciting world of horror literature.

More than 20 authors will be selling and signing their books, chatting about all things spooky and much more besides. It’s a welcoming community and they’re a very friendly bunch. The roster includes a wide range of authors from the indie horror scene, veterans and newbies, representing a broad spectrum within the genre. There will also be readings, discussion panels, themed quizzes and book signings.

So don’t do the obvious this bank holiday. Avoid your mate’s burnt sausages at the rainy BBQ, and switch off the Bond movie. Come to the Night Owl for Indie Horror Chapter – Birmingham Book Con. We’d love to see you there!

David Watkins lives in Devon in the UK with his wife, two sons, dog, cat and two turtles. He is unsure of his place in the pecking order: probably somewhere between the cat and the turtles. He has currently released three novels: The Original’s Return, The Original’s Retribution and The Devil’s Inn. Each book is well rated and reviewed on Amazon and beyond.
