BFS Writing Retreat
The British Fantasy Society is delighted to be hosting a writing retreat at Gladstones Library in Hawarden, Wales, from the 3rd to the 6th of March, 2023. Join us for a long weekend of writing in beautiful surroundings, with some socialising in the evenings. This will be a very relaxed retreat with no workshops or tutor-led sessions, and no requirement to share your work in the evenings. Just writing and some friendly conversation. You can find out all about the venue here: Gladstone’s Library | the UK’s finest residential library (gladstoneslibrary.org).
The retreat will cost £300 for a single room, and £360 for a double. There are 5 of each available. The price includes dinner, bed and breakfast for three nights. As you can see, places are limited. At this point, we’re inviting expressions of interest if you would like to attend. If there are more people interested than places available, we will draw names from a hat.
To register your interest, please complete the form here: https://forms.gle/YGtY9VuJxVyAQgH49 Please only complete the form if you are willing to commit to the retreat if your name is selected. The form will stay open until midnight on the 26th of December. We’ll be in touch before the end of the month to let you know if you’ve been successful.
In addition to the ten places available above, the Society is extremely pleased to be able to offer one sponsored place at the retreat, funded by the Society. This will include 3 nights dinner, bed and breakfast in a single room. Applicants will be responsible for their own travel and additional meals required. The sponsored place is open to any BFS member who would be otherwise unable to attend, and we are particularly keen to receive applications from groups which are traditionally under-represented in SFFH. The sponsorship is not means tested and we will not require proof of income. If you would like to apply for the sponsored place, please complete this form: https://forms.gle/n82Ym3Uh33HWKkJs7. This form will be open until midnight on 26th December and the beneficiary will be selected at random.
