With Fantasycon only a few days away, here is some information to help your weekend go smoothly.
Although the event doesn’t start until Saturday, the team will be at the hotel, setting things up on Friday night. The registration desk will be open from 8-10pm for you to pick up your badges and sign up for workshops. At the same time, we’ll be hosting an informal social in the bar. Please do come along and say hello.
Please make sure you familiarise yourself with the convention’s policies here: Fantasycon Policies | The British Fantasy Society as these form part of the terms and conditions of attending.
We would like to remind you all that the convention hotel is within the London Low Emissions Zone. If you are travelling by car, you may be required to pay a congestion charge. Check the requirements for your vehicle and find out how to pay here: Low Emission Zone – Transport for London (tfl.gov.uk)
Although we were unable to arrange a dealer’s hall this year, we are able to offer a pop-up sales table following launches and readings, where authors will be able to sell some books direct. The table will be available for one-hour slots throughout the weekend. So, there will still be an opportunity to buy some books – after all, what would Fantasycon be if we didn’t all have to find space in our suitcases to squeeze in the books we’ve bought? If you are an author/publisher who would like to book a slot and have not yet done so, drop Shona a line at chair@britishfantasysociety.org
We will be streaming some of the panels and the awards ceremony. These can be found here: British Fantasy Society – YouTube Items which are being recorded will have signs on the room door, letting people know on entering.
The BFS AGM will take place on Sunday at 10am. The AGM is open to all Fantasycon attendees, although only BFS members may vote. For members not attending the convention this year, the AGM will be accessible via Zoom. The link was sent out in the last two bulletins, along with the agenda, previous minutes and reports. As these have all been sent out electronically, there will only be a limited number of printed copies available on the day.
Keep an eye on Twitter over the course of the weekend for any last-minute updates.
We can’t wait to see you there!
