BFS Online: The Big BFS Quiz

BFS Online is excited to announce that the Big BFS Quiz is back! Our next quiz is Thursday 14th May 2026 at 7pm (BST).

Quiz masters Erin and Morag, aka writing team ‘MK Hardy’, will be taking you through six rounds of questions, ranging from all things SFFH to music, movies and general knowledge. Join us to show off your mad remembering stuff skills. And perhaps dazzle us with impromptu bonus activities!

How does it work?

You’ll play in teams (max 5) via Zoom. You can organise your team in advance or we’ll assign you to one on the night. After each round, teams will be put into breakout rooms to confer and submit their answers; each team will have a scribe, whose job it is to fill out the Google form. Everyone in the BFS is on their honour, so we’re trusting you not to cheat!

How long does it last?

We estimate 2 hours for the quiz.

Who can play?

Anyone can play. Entering the quiz is free for BFS members and £1 for non members, so bring your friends. We only ask that non members are on a team with at least one BFS member.

What’s the prize?

Pride. Kudos. Bragging rights. And the winning team gets to choose a topic for future quizzes. Possibly a really badly made stuffed frog with magical powers*.

*Magical powers not guaranteed, much like the frog itself.

MK Hardy: Morag Hannah, together with wife Erin Hardee, writes under the penname MK Hardy. With backgrounds ranging from museum interpretation to web design, and from science communication to ghost tours, they are devoted to storytelling in almost every aspect of their lives and work. When they are not telling stories they can be found singing in choirs, foraging for fungi, and working on their 1880s fixer-upper. Their debut sapphic gothic horror The Needfire released from Solaris in the UK in July 2025.

Frequently asked questions

This is an online event. What do I need to attend?

You need a computer or device (phone/tablet) capable of using Zoom and an internet connection.

I don’t have a Zoom account.

You will need a Zoom account to participate, but an account is free to create and use. Just go here to make one.

I have difficulty hearing. Will I be able to enjoy this event?

All our online events have closed captioning and audio transcripts, enabling those with hearing difficulties to follow everything.   Closed captions and the transcript run automatically but need to be enabled by each individual user on their own device. You can find instructions on how to set this up here.

Do I need to be a BFS member?

No. Everyone is welcome to attend our online events, although BFS members do get free entry. There are lots of great reasons to join, so we hope you’ll consider it. You can join here.

What happens if I don’t receive a link to the event?

You should receive a receipt from the BFS and then a second email with the joining link. If you don’t, please email events@britishfantasysociety.org as soon as possible.
